Maiasmokk (Sweet Tooth in Estonian) is the city’s oldest running café which dates back to 1806 when sugar baker Lorenz Cavietzel obtained the hall of the current Maiasmokk Cafe, which back then was a separate house. Today the cafe is operated by Kalev, the most famous chocolate company of Estonia. The Maiasmokk café is located on Pikk Street, in the Old Town of Tallinn, in a building that is a cultural object. The interior décor of the café has remained unchanged for almost a century – it still keeps its pre-war interior and offers a variety of cakes and pastries, as well as fresh coffee. All the delicious stuff is made right on the spot. The café also has its own Marzipan Museum. There is always an artist in the museum who decorates marzipan figures, and he often agrees to fulfill visitors’ requests! So if you are looking for fresh pastries, pies, cakes and delicious handmade candies, Maiasmokk is the right place to visit.
